After a multi-year blogging hiatus, I’m jumping back in.  The advent of social media platforms temporarily diverted my attention, as was true for the attentions of most of my friends. (It was easier — at that time — to snap a photo on a phone and upload it to those platforms than to our own blogs.)  Our blogs withered.  Only over several years was the Faustian Bargain we made laid bare.  So, I quit the social media sites.
