Tapas turns fourteen this month. Fourteen is definitely getting up there in the life expectancy for a chihuahua. However, Tapas has been a very healthy dog his entire life. Because of that, it came as quite a shock when he became deathly ill last week and had to spend several days at the pet hospital with what presented as kidney failure. It’s looking more and more like he developed a serious kidney infection. We are very lucky that it didn’t turn out to be kidney cancer, which was one of the possible diagnoses.

The good news is that he responded well to treatment and is back home.
